On March 6 and 7, the KEMAI women came together for the Equal Opportunities Retreat – two days full of open discussions, shared experiences, and hands-on learning.

On Friday, senior KEMAI scientists Rebekka Hufendiek and Birte Glimm gave personal insights into their career paths, reflecting on the ups and downs of scientific careers. From “My route to the PhD” (Glimm) to the journey toward habilitation (Hufendiek), their honest perspectives sparked thoughtful conversations.

The day continued with a cozy dinner in Augsburg’s old town and an informal fireside discussion bringing together PIs and doctoral researchers.

Saturday focused on practice: a highly interactive workshop on negotiating strategies led by Jane Bormeister. The session was dynamic, engaging, and packed with useful takeaways – leaving participants inspired and feeling they truly benefited.
